We were several ex-Barodians(ex-trainees from Baroda, India) gathering together to spend a few days giggling and revitalizing our memories from the past times. Some of the guys I had not seen since I left India but I remembered them all just as they were once upon a time in Baroda! The group consisted of 4 mexicans, one austrian, one canadian, two americans and... a finnish guy. For me and Yesmith this was our first mid-size trip after the journey to Acapulco to the west coast.

Actually our initial plans were to rent a van and drive around the states Queretaro and Guanajuato. We wanted to visit cities such as San Miguel de Allende and Tequisquiapan but we realized soon that one weekend was too short to experience it all.
Finally we stayed in Bernal the whole Saturday and returned back to Querétaro on Sunday morning. It's worth noting that The distance between Bernal and Querétaro is rather small and we decided to order two cabs that would bring us to the village:)

Bernal is famous because of its huge rock called La Peña de Bernal. You can see a glimpse of it in two of the pictures. The village is very small, not even of the size of my hometown Pietarsaari, but is well known around the area. The local businessmen sell highly respected handcraft and sweets with a special flavour.

I happened to visit the place about one year ago with Yesmith and her friend.

We initiated our journey towards the top of La Peña de Bernal on Sunday morning. There is a specific route with stairs carved on the ground and most of the people follow this path to reach as high as possible. Last time we managed to climb almost to the highest point and passed a few very steep passways. Though, advancing without any kind of security equipment is a little too hazardous and this time we decided to skip it.
Angie and Paco decided to stay in the village due to chronical diseases they told that they were suffering of:). Karina didn't follow the rest of us either all the way because she is pregnant! Mark and her are living in India but now they are having vacation and enjoying their free time in Mexico.

Around midsunday we took the bus back to Querétaro and spent the rest of the day walking around. Mark, Karina, Leo and Angie returned back to the cities from where they came(Gunajuato & Aguascalientes) whereas Anand, Anne and Paco spent one more day in Qro.
The next day Yesmith flew to El Salvador and my second week in my new job started. Right now I'm killing the last hours of the day in my temporary apartment around the market place of "El Tepe". I'm staying in Vicente's flat (Yesmith's brother) and we are currently searching for an apartment to buy for Yes and me.

Its now 10:02pm and I'm about to finish the blog, listening to Andrea Bocelli's 'Besame Mucho' with a prillu of danish snuff in my mouth:) Greetings to my family and all my friends!

Tom

...and Tumppis Blog was made

...to follow the global mass trends in instant communicating by letting the people discover in realtime his hazzles in México.
